EOJ Board Rules

Because of different significant reasons we realized the need to work over our board rules.

I strongly ask every user at EOJ Boards to read the following rules carefully and remember them.

These rules are formulated to help make this board a place where you can feel comfortable and where living together as fans works fine, where you can find and share information and talk and discuss freely your opinion.

1. General behavior at the board

First of all: Be nice! If you don't like somebody please avoid official confrontations. Try clearing up disagreements in private (using PM or email). Otherwise the moderators will have to take action. If nothing else works try ignoring and avoiding the specific person best you can.

We DO respect your opinion but if something is wrong, you will have to accept that someone will correct it, as well as when you publish your opinion there might be somebody who disagrees and sees it as an excellent opportunity to post his own - which might possibly not be in agreement with yours. This is called "free expression of opinion" - okay? (In case we notice that somebody abuses the Edit-function we're going to switch it off (like writing without a corrector pen at school *lol*)

The words of moderators and administrators count. If a member of the staff tells you something then you'll have to accept it. We do our best to supply everyone with information, help you in any situation and create an atmosphere where you can enjoy being a fan of Julian McMahon. But we can only be successful if you help support us and NOT work against us.

It would be great if you could report any breaking of the rules or problems like dead links and so on by a short PM to one of the moderators or admins. This is not a must but that way you would help keep the board nice and updated.

Provoking, insulting, attacking, spamming and that kind of thing will not be tolerated. We're a homelike small community which was founded for chatting and sharing a great time, to meet fellow fans, sometimes even new friends - who all have one thing in common - an appreciation for Julian. Anyone who thinks about disturbing this peace will have to deal with mods and admins - which could mean banning at the worst.

Illegal - like porn, rude or insulting posts or any other kind of things (which are against the law) are restricted in general. It will instantly be deleted and the user might be banned.

2. User, profile and self-expression

2.1 Signature/Banner
You're free to link your own banner in your signature, as long as the size (length, width, file size) does not exceed the following measures:

Banners should be not larger than: height: 140px, width: 500px, file size: 50kb or height: 180px by max. width 350 file size: 50kb
The signature in whole should not be higher than 180px.

2.2. Avatars
You may load up your personal avatar as long as it is not exceeding the following sizes: width: 120px, height: 130px, file size: 15 kb (otherwise the board will refuse it).

2.3. Self-Advertising
... is not allowed, except... you are allowed to add the link to your own (!!!) site or board to your profile and you're also free to have a banner with a decent mention of your own(!!)site. No clickable links will be accepted. Message boards may not be advertised in your signature.

3. General guidelines for posting

3.1 Problems
If you have any kind of problem - handling of the board, downloads, running medias, getting a signature and so on - or even problems with other users - just send a PM to one of the staff members - if they can help they will. But please check first if there is already a thread dealing with your kind of problem. You can also post in the "Support & Technical Questions" area.

3.2 Posting of text and media (images, clip etc) found on the web
You HAVE TO add the source below the text. Image or link to the media: write the full address but don't make the font size of the source larger than the usual text or link. (This might lead to confusion).

3.3 Think first before you post
Means - we won't delete something once it is up (as long as it doesn't break the rules or law) and contains content (please avoid postings like "me too" or "I agree" or something similar....)

3.4. Posting Nonsense
Please no postings that contain only smilies, "yes" or "no" etc. Your postings should contain a message - however if you let yourself get tempted to do so we won't kill you but don't let it become a regular habit >> otherwise the mods will come with their brooms to clean up. *lol* This leads me to the next topic....

3.5 Collecting postings (a.k.a. Spamming)
This board exists to chat and discuss, to find information and to share, not to start the Olympic Poster Games - this will gain you nothing. If we notice something like that you can be sure you will receive mail from the team.

3.6 Size of pictures posted on the board.
Pictures you want to share with your fellow users should not exceed a width of 500px for viewable images, for larger images please use thumbnails (small size previews of your image) with a link or post the link only. Please watch the file size (approximately 150 kb) because some users might still have a slow connection and would have to wait a very, very long time for the image to download. (Yes, some are still out there *lol*).

3.7 Meaningful titles
Important: The title you choose for new threads should say something about the topic. Once there are several Threads named "Hello", "Help", "Sorry", "Well.." or whatever you will be grateful for any title that makes you at least guess what to expect inside.

3.8 Responsibility for your own posting
Of course you've to stand for what you write. Anything illegal or carelessly wrong will be deleted respectively, corrected AND if necessary, lead to further actions. Yet you do not have to be afraid to tell your honest opinion. No one will blame you for that - but most likely welcome it.

3.9 Taking of information/media respectively posting things you found here onto other boards/sites
Usually we don't own things brought to this board by others, we don't take any responsibilities for supposed news to be correct. (Disclaimer: If you want to use the news item on other boards or websites please ask the owner/source first. For any kind of media belonging to the board - Short question to the admins for permission and give us credit at any place you post it.)

4. Further on....
  • The word of the admins is law *lol*.
  • The word of the moderators is law as well - as long as no admin objects *lol*.
  • We are your best friends here, just as you are friends for us.
  • We want to achieve anything to make you feel comfortable.
  • Criticism is allowed, but enough is enough.
  • And if anyone feels chosen to make our friends' life hell, he'll get into trouble with us and... "We're going to be your worst nightmare!"
